Frequently Asked Questions

What is MFR?

Myofascial Release (often abbreviated as MFR) is a gentle, hands-on therapy that focuses on releasing restrictions in the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, nerves, and organs throughout the body.

Over time, due to injury, stress, inflammation, or poor posture, fascia can become tight, sticky, or dehydrated, leading to pain, limited movement, and a sense of imbalance in the body. Myofascial Release uses sustained, gentle pressure to stretch and soften these restrictions, allowing the tissue to relax and return to a healthier state.

Unlike massage, which often targets muscle tissue more directly, Myofascial Release works on a deeper level—addressing the root causes of discomfort by helping the body release long-held tension and restore natural alignment and flow. It can be deeply calming, and while subtle, it often leads to profound shifts in both physical and emotional well-being.

How to Prepare for Your Session

To get the most out of your session, please shower beforehand and avoid applying any lotions or oils to your skin, as they can interfere with the hands-on work. Myofascial Release is done directly on the skin without oils, so it’s helpful to wear loose, comfortable clothing—or something that allows access to as much skin as you feel comfortable with. Many clients choose to wear athletic shorts or a two-piece swimsuit. Your comfort and sense of safety are the priority, so please dress in a way that feels right for you.
